I'll be interested to see if the new mustang handles well. Thats always been one of its shortcomings.

I know Ford produced a factory born 2005 Stang GT just for the twisties named "Boy Racer' which was aired on the discovery channel, but how much technology was used from that experiment to go into the new Stangs, I'm not sure.....

If early indications are even close to accurate, the Mustang would rather easily dispatch the old F-body. Consistently, these cars are getting really good slolam speeds(67+) as well as .89g's in more than one skidpad test I've read. Doing that on the small shoes it wears is pretty darned good. I'd like to see 18's with 245/45's on it, for looks if nothing else. If memory serves correctly, the new Mustang also has better braking and weight balance(and transfer) and a wider stance and longer wheelbase(which may actually hurt its handling).

Straightline tests show the F-body would be faster, but they're really close on the 1/4. That's mostly because the Mustang isn't hard to launch well with it's newly updated suspension. I read on one of the Mustang related websites that a guy in GA ran 13.35, factory stock. Several are still searching for quality drivers though!!

Twisties I would say the GT.

Straight with few twisties, No question the LS1 T/A.

Twisties is a pretty hard call. The final F-bodies have been doing quite well in SCCA's F/Stock autocross and had an edge over the SN95. However, the chassis on the new Mustang GT has been pretty extensively redesigned and addresses a lot of the Fox-body's shortcomings. It's going to be very interesting to watch F/Stock this year, as it's going to be a dual between some of the best handling pony cars ever built.
