running 130 mph the boat blew over. thanks to the Helmet, and correct high impact life jacket, the driver didnt suffer any broken bones or worse, just sore and beaten. he is at home resting now. the next day, another guy ran 143.8MPH in the same style hull. visit http://forums.screamandfly.com/foru...ead.php?t=78759 for more info.

well guys, like i said, the safety gear is what saved his life. the Jacket is a LIFELINE brand that is reinforced to withstand very high impact. they arent cheap, but $400 isnt shit when its your LIFE that you are paying for.

another good thing is thanks to the guys that were there, his hull was recovered, and the motor started and flushed with oil within an hour of that accident

Like Jay said, "ouch" and double-ouch. I'll bet he was screaming before he hit the water. Shit, look how high in the air he and the boat were, that would hurt just jumping off the 10-meter board the wrong way.

That particular hull design is, as you know, intended to trap air and lift the boat. It works great when it raises the hull out of the water and reduces drag, but ONE WRONG BUMP can change the attitude and the boat can go into the air like tossing a frisbee into the wind. I'm not a big fan of that boat style, by the way. Generally low cost, reasonably fast, fun, but not my favorite ride.
