Should have bought that new civic instead of the mustang

At least my truck gets about 26-28mpg...and the Impala gets about 30.
Gas prices out here can be found around $2.05-$2.10 for 87 octane, if you look around. some stations are charging as much as $2.30 or more.

Wow, our gas prices are as bad as they are in california, it makes me like my car a little more. There was an SUV at the gas pump when I was pulling into the station and when they left and pulled up to the pump it had costed them $60 to fill their tank.

Same shit down there too huh?
Gas is 92.9 cents a litre now.

It's the Arab's way of getting us back for waging war in their neck of the woods, and not letting it spread over here.

gas prices always go up in the spring when they refineries change over from producing heating oil to gasoline. fact of life.
That said, I'm not happy about it, I'm considering a 4 banger S10 as much as ever (Jeep should be paid off in the summer). It's too cold to drive Thunder (the Celica) because the rear struts freeze solid below 32 degrees.

Next time you buy replace the struts, install gas ones.

I complain as well with the rise in gas prices sometimes, but no matter what we do...It'll go up or it'll go down...so look at it this way, Price a gallon of bottled water, a 16 ounce bottle of soda or a pound of coffee to one gallon of Gas and you'll see Gas prices are still the better bargain...We complain about gas hikes, but how many complain about a 16 oz bottle of Coke costing on an average a dollar?

whatever the reason, its getting re-goddamn-diculous. by the time my boat is rigged i wont be able to afford the price of 15 gallons of premium.

yeah you will, cut out the sodas, lotto tickets or beer and you'll have no problem....Yeah, always that chance to win at lotto, but always that chance you'll never win and waste boo-koo bucks on it.....economize...

I got an idea! Let's spread a gasoline boycot day across the net...
Posted by: IROC_ZO6
if it gets too much worse, im going to fucking methanol. methanol is only $2 a gallon now but you burn 50% more... if premium hits $3- im switching!

I've said it before and I'll say it again...... The rest of the world's not stupid, diesels are the way to go, especially 4 cylinders in smaller cars. Sure you can get a small car that gets 30mpg, but 25 years ago you could get a Chevy Luv diesel that got closer to 60 to the gallon. Heck, my parents had 2 different 350 diesels back in the day and even though those engines had their share of problems they'd get 30mpg just puttin around town in a FULL SIZE REAR WHEEL DRIVE SEDAN WITH A 5.7 LITER ENGINE.
Another example - it's not uncommon for a 7000lb truck to get over 20mpg runnin highways with a diesel. I've heard more than once of a tricked out 5.9 Cummins with Propane getting about 28 to the gallon (even though you've got the added cost of propane....).

Hmmmm, why does diesel cost more than gasoline?
Posted by: skeezix
I'd say it's due to diesels being more popular nowadays.
A jetta TDI can get close to 600 miles per tank.

ya know, I almost bought a 1985 mercedes 300d (i think) turbo diesel two weeks ago for $900 it smoked a little much but im sure it could have been fixed... maybe I should have

Too bad we can't buy them in California. And if we buy them out of state, we can't register them here, because they won't pass SMOG....at least that's how I understand it from what I was told at a VW dealership a few years ago.

yeah, how much more is it? Considering diesels usually get about twice the mpg of their gasoline counterparts, you still save. Maintenance may be a little more, but the engines usually last a lot longer overall. There have been more than a few one ton trucks with diesels go over 500k miles without a rebuild.

Weird. The new Cummins 5.9 has over 300hp and over 600ftlbs of torque and it's 50 state legal.

So....vehicles in california that consume MORE diesel fuel than a car are allowed to be resistered, but a golf or a jetta cannot?......
Weird.

Exactly. It's probably because people complained about the smell. That's California for ya!
Even the way registration works is odd. My 2wd 4cyl Tacoma is registered as a commercial vehicle. I called the DMV to find out about it. It turns out that all trucks must be registered as commercial vehicles, no matter how big or small, or how they're used.
My neighbor told me that CA just changed the law on getting your car SMOGged...the station that performs the SMOG check has to put your car on a Dyno while it's being checked. I don't entirely know why, yet...and it may only be at the "Check Only" stations...every so many years (or something like this) you have to bring your car into a "SMOG Check Only" station. Other years it can be brought to a standard SMOG check station where repairs can be done. Don't ask why...I don't know.
