As the title says, I'm looking for ideas on which digicamcorder to buy. Let's see your input please. I'm not awfully concerned about price at the moment. I want a good one. I have a JVC GR-D30U now, but it crapped out somehow and simply doesn't do a thing now. Sad part is, it lasted less than 90 days, but my brother had it so I didn't return it and now I believe I'm stuck with it as it is, broken.

I've got a Sony DCR-TRV11 MiniDV camcorder. It's been reliable. I like the MiniDV format as you plug it into a firewire port on the PC and transfer the video direct. Your PC will actually control the camera through the firewire port.... I think the new gig is the mini DVD format where the camera records direct to DVD... I'm thinking about trying one out...

I'm looking to upgrade and may let this one go for a reasonable offer...

Does that use I-EEE Firewire?

I can't find that one, but I found the DCR-TRV101. Are these similar.

I'm not sure I want a DVD type, but it's probably better than the tiny tapes mine used. Oh, I wish mine had lasted. Nearly $400 down the drain.

I want one with great battery life or one I can buy an upgrade battery for. Could a bad battery be why mine doesn't work? I'm no camera guru, so I wonder, could a bad battery allow power, but no ability to see anything on the viewfinder and/or LCD screen? I tried what little I could think of, including recharging the battery.

Yes it does. That's how I upload everything to the computer.

It's a helluva bang for the buck, in my opinion.

Cool. I'll try to find one and look it over. Anyone else with suggestions?
