Okay I am tring to find out if anyone knows a site where they list engine codes? So I can take the numbers off my 350 and find out what year it exactly is and all. Also which 350's were the strongest? Which were the worst? Please help.

try there.
The 350's were all in all, good engines no matter what year.(speaking of short block assembly only!
) The best ones you would find would be from a 68-79. Basically with these engines, Gm was casting with less "meat" on the engine components thgroughout the years. 80-85's had a mounting boss for the dipstick on the passenger side, 86's had a one piece rear main and 87-99's were cast slightly different as well. Now some blocks depending on where and when(which I don't know because they were so many different variables) they were made, have different nickel contents. The higher the nickel content, the better. AFAIK, high-nickel blocks were made in early years and some came from mexico as well. Although the blocks kept the same durability, certain types of heads were junk. Example,I had a set of "624" heads on my truck, which flowed quite nicely, but GM in it's design flaw cast them with too little 'meat' on them and thus, 99% of the '624' heads were prone to cracks.

I typed "14014440 Chevy Block" in a Google search, and came up with this:
http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm
Scroll about 4/5ths of the way down, and you'll see:
14014440...80......305..........1.84"/1.5" valves
Looks like your block is a 305, not a 350, and it was made in 1980. Whoever sold you that car either lied to you or was lied to by the previous owner, and never bothered to look into it.

I also found this doing a search for "17084201 Carb"
Notice his engine is also a 305, not a 350. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
A lot of this stuff can be found on your own, using Google. www.google.com
