hello all, well i guess i will start with what i do.
mechanic for 10 years and paint & body for 2 years.
I have 2 1968 cougars, one is an ugly as hell toy and the other i am turning into a highway cruiser.

Well sinc I saw it first(apparently) welcome aboard! Stick around, it gets rough but those who hang in there find it hilarious at times. Old Cougars are cool, btw. What engines are in yours?

Welcome! Don't worry about your "ugly" car. You should see how ugly Grape Ape is in person, and we still let him hang around!

Hey weasel welcome aboard.

Posted by: Grape Ape

See what I mean? It gets worse too, but don't worry 'bout it. Jay doesn't know any better.

Welcome to the site, got any pics of the Cougars?

I thought not having mufflers was a good thing? At least that is what I've learned from here...

Go ahead... you can wake up now Mike! Besides, I plan on getting into another LS1 within a few months. Don't worry though, I'm still keeping the TB atleast until next year when I plan on getting something else. I'm not sure if I'll get a Taho, Expedition, or a 4 door truck. I'm not going back to a car for my daily driver though. My next LS1 will be a all out street car with the biggest cam and converter I get into it and keep it from stalling at red lights!

here is a pic of the ugly one.

and i dont really have any of the one im rebuilding.
(UGLY) has the original 68 302 that is far from stock. bored .040, 11.5-1 keith black pistons, manley steel h-beam rods, roller cam conversion for a lunati hyd. roller cam, holley 700 double pumper, edelbrock victor jr. intake, jacobs ignition system, stock heads reworked by my cousin at self racing, long tube headers, c-4 trans , tci street fighter stall, 9 inch rear, 456 gears, detroit no slip locker and im sure i have forgot someting but oh well.
(The Pumpkin) is in the process of getting a fuel injected 302 for an 86 loncoln donor with aod tranny and all wheel discs. this will be the cruiser of the 2 so most of the money in it will be put into the actual looks of the car and dependability.

Car #2 sounds like a real deal program, needing big work. I've done something similar and done the opposite as well(it's easier). Good luck with that. I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.

Btw, you may think I'm crazy here, but the 700DP seems like too much carb for a 308 using stock heads. On the other hand, you can jet it down if needed.

Welcome to the site man, enjoy your stay.

when i said my cousin reworked the heads he did a full port and polish with oversized stainless valves.
i got the carb in a trade for a edelbrock carb i had because the guy who had it didnt know how to adjust it. the edelbrock was on the car and i switched to the holley and it seems to respond alot better. so i figured if it runs so well why bother with it.

Posted by: Grape Ape

I'll agree you made a good swap. The Edelbrock is no match for a good Holley, because it's so NON-adjustable. You may find a slightly smaller version gets even more power. Then again, if this serves the purpose you want it to, no need.
