What you think about who they selected for the new Pope?

I don't have a clue about who the new Pope is, never heard of him before. I'm not Catholic, but it sure looks like he has BIG shoes to fill. There's sure no lack of need.............for leadership in this world............so let's wish him all the best, because he sure has his work cut out for him. Basically, I think the world needs all the help it can get, and if theres a Pope or two trying to help out, all the better.

Have they just chucked him in until they can figure out who they really want to have???

Maybe all of the cardinals had such a good time over the last few weeks that want to do it all again in a few years time. After all, it has been 26 years since the last piss up!

Older is better, I couldn't see calling a 21 year old, Father......Give the older cardinals a chance....You have to have history and experience behind the face.....Youth to me is great if newer trends are involved...but when it comes to leadership, go with life long experience....Reagan was the oldest president and alot of people loved him, no matter their political stand....He had charisma, style, a history behind him...The same could be said about Pope John Paul II.....Good elders should be respected...the world over!

That's just being silly. A 21 year old Pope wouldn't know which ring to get kissed... Oops... did I just say that out loud?

I was thinking maybe someone in their 60s or EARLY 70s. At least get a good 10 years out of the guy so that we don't have to go through watching the same thing on three channels so soon!!! (No I don't have cable!)

I'm not a big fan of organized religion, (although I don't deny it serves a purpose) so I don't really care too much. I think too much is being made of the whole thing though. I think the vatican is as valid as the royal family.

The only requirement for a cardinal to become a pope is that he has to be younger than 80 years old. I don't think a young pope would be good because why would you want the same pope for something like 40 years?

I have heard that also. It was rumored that they refused to pick an American because they thought America has too much power in the world already.

Same rumors I've heard, plus they wouldn't pick a Black pope, because of Nostradamus' prediction....

The american thing was more about how it would look. If there were an American pope with the USA as the most powerful nation ANY time the pope agreed with what we did would be seen as colusion by too many in the world.

The good news is this guy's been trying to fight socialism inside Germany for a LONG time.
