Does it hurt to run 400mhz DDR on a motherboard that only supports up to 266mhz ?

I used to run PC133 in a PC100, and it never really hurt anything. Seems like it would just be like putting a restrictor plate on an engine. It would have the capability to go faster, just set to a slower speed.

PC3200 (or DDR400) will work fine in a mobo that only supports PC2100 (or DDR266). It works the other way around, also, but then your wasting the potential capabilities of the mobo.

Well when you do it the other way, you have to go into the BIOS, and turn the speed down to the slowest stick you are using.
