ok i know this isnt a performance question but it does have to do with a the life of my car so ya.. im changin the oil right now an normaly i always run 5w 30 on my cars so i firgured this one would be no dif, iv only change the oil once on this one an when i went to buy the oil today the guy said his comp showed i should be runin 5w 20, i bought the 5w 30 an was gonan check my owners manual but i dont have one for some reason. Should i just go an put in the 30 or should i go back for the 20? o ya its a 97 gt mustang

Personally, I'd run 10W-30 or atleast 5W-30. nothing thinner than that in the summer heat on a performance oriented engine. I always ran 10W-30 in my LS1's even though they called for 5W-30. Hope this helps.

cool thnx man, i dont think id run 10 on this engine till it gets a few thousand more clicks on it, i ended up putin the 5-30, quakerstak or how ever u spell it
what do u guys think is better mobil 1 or this stuff?

Mobil1, but I like Amsoil even better.

I would stay away from Quakerbake, A good conventional is Valvoline or Castrol
And when I had my 2001 GT I ran 10W-30, It never got the 5w-20 that Ford recomends for that car. Its just to damn hot pretty much year round in Houston for that thin of oil.
