can a big block fit in a 78 chrysler codoba body. i would like to make this into a street car and possibly run in the tens in the quarter

A ten second, street driven, big block Cordoba? That is completely sick, wrong, and deranged. In other words, my favorite sort of project.

You'll be happy to learn that putting a big Wedge in your Cordoba is an easy swap. The 400 was a factory option. I'm pretty sure all you need are the motor mounts if you have a smallblock instead. What motor does it have now?

10's... On the 1/4 mile?

It can be done, but consider the "ridiculus factor" involved. Quick drag racers are about low weight and high power. A 78 Cordoba is severely handicapped in both categories. The larger engine will surely fit, but expect to need about 650rwhp from it, along with a huge diet to manage 10's. Now open the check book and say "Aaaaaaahhhhhhh." It's going to be a painful journey!

find a factory 400 cordoba, they are pretty plentiful and swap the whole thing, you'll need the bigblock 727 too.

The 400 with a 440 crank is said to make one of the best bore/stroke ratio motors out there. The complete rotating assemblies are fairly cheap and could get you pretty damn close to your desired 1/4 mile timeslip.

good luck and check out moparstyle.com forum, there are several cordoba drag cars on there.
