They built a 17-foot sea wall there after the event in 1900 when 6,000 people died. Now they're saying the water could be 12-feet higher than the wall, and it could extend THIRTY FIVE MILES INLAND.
Here is a panoramic view of the aftermath of the 1900 storm, and history may be getting ready to repeat itself. Better say a prayer for all those people down there.
In "Geologic Time" a hundred years is a flash in the pan, this sort of thing has been happening with REGULARITY in the Gulf for many hundreds of thousands of years. You would think people would recognize science and history, and take action, however in the life span of a person, things like this don't often make any sense I guess.
It's like the frog in hot water. If you slowly raise the temp, the frog stays there and eventually dies. If you toss a frog into hot water, it will jump out. Society is more like the frog in water that is slowly getting hotter, sadly.

The legs would know enough to move out of the flood zone and get out of the frying pan. The rest of the frog would probably know enough to get out of the way of the hurricane, and would probably craw to safety with his front legs, only to grow more rear legs.

For a minute there I thought I was reading a memo from one of the oil companies.
