ha ha ha, and they were so embarassed, they didn't even list the cars when they gave the times. All they did was list the driver and the time, and now they don't have to be humiliated by some old clunker blowing all that expensive machinery into the weeds.
Here's the report:

"18-year old Mike Lannoch of Northern Ohio Region, driving his dads modified 914, beat everbody there, and we're talking about a huge entrant field of 276 cars, with a blistering fast time of just 54.9 seconds, beating veteran hot-shoe Tom Provasi in his modified 914 by nearly a full second."
So the two fastest roller skates on the course were 914s. From previous years, there are always some 944s that are way up at the top of the list too, but the 914 with the six cylinder seems to rule this event. Pretty much fun, and a chuckle to watch all the Boxster boys trying so hard,

Here's the guy Mike beat by a full second. Must be talent, because Tom Provasi is no rookie!

is it more aerodynamic w/out the windsheild? or is that just weight saving?

Next to the 928, the 914-6 (I've seen it listed as a 916 also) has been a long-time favorite of mine - the flared fenders make the body look that much better
Good driving kid!!

That's pretty cool, but I'd worry about his helmet sticking through the top if the rollcage...not likely a widened 914 is going to roll easily, but still.
