F-150/250 similarities.

The standard duty F-250(97-99) uses parts similar to the F-150, but they aren't identical in 1999, for example. 4X4 F-150's do share similar parts with 2WD F-250's, but the 2WD doesn't have much of anything that bolts up. I merely pointed out the F-150 4X4 is actually different than the 2WD version. It was, to my knowledge, in all years from 1997 models through 2003 models. I don't believe it was an option at all, just two different setups completely.
John: The FX4 wouldn't be on your dads anyway, would it? I don't think they used it until 2004 models(which aren't the same changes across the board for 150/250 anyway). Even so, the 99 F-250 in my driveway has 7 lug hubs. The Lightning probably doesn't, and the 4X4 F-150 doesn't. That means different brakes, wheels, hubs, etc. The only guy I know with a 1997 F-150 4X4 has 6 lug hubs, so he told me several months ago when comparing the two. However, I doubt he does the maintenance himself, so this could be wrong.
Similar yes. Identical, no. Maybe all the F-150 4X4 parts could swap onto an F-250 standard duty, but a piece here or there won't likely work correctly. Part numbers vary from brakes to hubs and others, like control arms, may be even closer in similarity. It doesn't mean they're all simply interchangeable. You could use a 351W camshaft and rockers in a 302. That doesn't mean the 351W pushrods or crank and rods will work.
I have no idea what F-250 Super Duty parts of the era would work on an F-150, as those models are all but 100% different.
Anyone who knows from working on both models regularly, please join in.
