hey i was wondering if the front suspension from a 88 mustang convertable 5.0 would fit a 65 coupe?

It won't fit without modification. The Fox chassis us surely wider than the original.

You'd also be moving from a Shock to Strut suspension. If you're gonna go through the hassle (a ton of fab work), there are kits to put dual A arm/coil-over suspensions in the early cars. $$$ and a fair bit of Fab work, but they eliminate the shock towers for a good bit more room in the engine bay, and lose a good bit of weight off of the nose. Some of them also utilize Fox chassis rack and pinion steering as well.
What are your goals/plans for the car??

Wow, I hadn't seen that one before. I remember they had a Mustang II front end kit for early 'stangs. That's definately different.

You could just go with some tubular control arms and relocated Shelby-style upper mounting holes. If I were going to all that work to design a custom suspension, I wouldn't compromise things by going with struts.
