hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm,

now I'm starting to wonder about other motors?????????????????????????

What's the bore spacing on the BBC?

How does it compare to the BBF (FE series) or the 460 series, or any of the small blocks out there???

So are those modified factory porsche heads or after market heads? What are the rest of the motor specs? Looks like a neat project for sure, but 550lb ft is nothing to write home about. A mild 454 with factory heads can do that. More details please.

What are the advantages of using those heads?

Posted by: MikeT

Hmmm all that work and it make LESS torque than your typical BBC...

Posted by: Ground Rat

BBC = Badass, BBC + Porsche = Meh, Porsche = Junk. That sound about right Mr. P?

So let's see a dyno graph!

I don't have access to the dyno, and there's no telling if the "rest of the motor" was blueprinted or not. It's a pretty major feat to adapt a head like this to a motor it wasn't intended for. That's the gig here, I guess.

My buddy took the pics, by the way.

I know, I've been reading up on the Volvo 16v head/Ford 2.3L short block hybrids. The Ford short block is bullet-proof and the Volvo head flows way better than the Ford head.

In this BBC/Porsche hybrid though, I'm still trying to figure out what the advantages are if there are any. If the Porsche heads flow better up top, then why are the only figures given 550 ft lbs @ 2500rpm?

Hey P, what the bore size on a 928 V8?
What are the valve sizes on the 928 V8 heads also?

That is actually cool! I wonder how long it took to put that thing together.

That took some serious finagling to make work. Kinda cool in weird sort of way.

Ground Rat, I'd definately like to know more about the Volvo/Ford match up.

Mr. P

Yeah that's true, we definitely need more specs on the motor to see what's up. I think it's a pretty cool project; it's the sort of thing hotrodding is all about.

Check out this link to read about the 2.3L volvo/ford hybrid:

thats a pretty wild setup! I didn't read the whole thread, mostly just looked at the pics. Seems he did alot of design changes to the intake/exhaust since he started. Either way it looks like it'll be a real screamer.

I'm with the guy who wrote in on the link forum and said "why didn't you just swap out the Volvo motor"? I really can't see the bottom end of the Ford being any stronger than the Sweedish Brickmotor. There are some guys in Sweden who have turbocharged these things out the yingyang. Pretty interesting article, the guy obviously has access to some aluminum technology! Apparently has access to all the tools, eh?

Like they say, "a boy has to have a hobby".
