2001 Trans Am Oil Usage?

Hey guys,
I joined for the explicit reason to ask this question...

I own a 2001 Trans Am and it is using oil way too fast, infact 2qts in 2-3 weeks. And I took it to the shop (both a professional one who deals with specifically Trans Ams and Cameros and the dealer ship) and they said that they have no idea whats wrong. And the oil is NOT leaking under the car, so it appears to be burning it off.

The oil Im using is the one recommended, and it is a completely stock car except for an exhaust system upgrade (shiny pipes :tongue and a new shaped hood. So I'm wondering if anyone else had the same problem or has any remote idea what it is. Someone said it might be the rubber rings in the pistons that they are letting a little bit of oil drip into the engine and its burning off too quickly to notice, so the rings need to be changed.

So any advice would be much appreciated

How many miles are on it. Mine burns about 1 qt every 1500 miles. It is common for them to use some oil, however that sounds excessive.

I think they were talking about the valve stem seals, Piston rings are surly not rubber If the piston rings are bad its gonna require a complete rebuild.
Make sure that there isnt any engine oil on your trans. My cousin had a bad rear main seal in her SS, it never left any oil on the ground when it was parked because it just collected in her bellhousing. When she would drive it would blow all the oil on to her transmission

Haha, yeah my bad sorry, he said the Valve Stem Seals.

But theres no oil in the transmission since its manual

Either way, to the post above that one theres 50k miles on it, which isn't bad but still I think the amount of oil thats burning IS excessive. It uses a quart maybe...every 200-300 miles. I wouldnt mind 1500 miles lol.

Man I would think if you were burning that much you see it the exhuast. Have you been over to LS1tech.com? There is a bunch of info there.

Oil was collecting in the bellhousing because her rear main seal was leaking. It was loosing oil but not leaving any on the groun while the car was parked, I dont thing this is your problem, just something to check on. She didnt figure it out untill the oil from the leaking rear main seal ruined her clutch.

If I had to guess I would say a leaking valve stem seal. But that seems kinda excessive to be a bad valve stem seal. I ran the 351W in my mustang with out them and didnt burn that much oil.
