The Great Carburetor Rebuild Survey

I've decided to take a survey across a couple different forums about the quality of homemade carb rebuilds versus store-bought rebuilds. I'd like to hear about all the rebuilt carburetors you have used on your own cars, although this should probably be limited to near-stock ones with just a few changes like jetting. If you want to participate, here's what I want to know:
1. What model of carburetor?
2. What engine and car was it on?
3. Who rebuilt it - yourself, a friend, a professional carb specialist, or bought one from a chain parts store like Autozone, etc?
4. How well did it work after rebuilding?
Here are my examples:
Carb no. 1
Holley 1920
225 slant six on my '66 Dart
Rebuilt it at home with a kit from NAPA
Worked just fine.
Carb no. 2
Carter BBD
Same engine and car as above
Bought a parts store carb off Ebay
Never could get it to accelerate smoothly - it would always bog and surge when I hit the gas

Shit, I can't remember half of what I did ten minutes ago let alone model numbers and cars! Most of the work I did for friends who were struggling with rebuilding it themselves. I just stepped in and showed them how to put it back together.
I will say that the AFB's were the biggest pains in the asses I ever worked on. If the Carter kits didn't come with instructions, I'd probably have screwed more of them up.
The easiest rebuilds were Q-jets and Holleys. Easiest in the respect that they were straightforward, simple designs without a whole ton of calibration needed and no funny tools that were expensive as hell and needed a voodoo priest, a dead chicken and incense to get to work right.

Waitaminute here. You just expounded ad-nauseum on the ease of rebuilding Carter AFB yet in every single paragraph, you mention a "gotcha" and each one of them is different. How is anyone supposed to believe that these things are easy to deal with when you make a post like that while slamming an exploded view right in the middle of it?

It's this simple.
If YOU'RE FUCKED UP...................
The Carb is FUCKED UP..................
it's not rocket science
the biggest problem I have seen is not getting all the parts you need. Thats why I NEVER throw away any extra parts and always buy what I can find at the swap meet ( extra parts ).
Personally, I like the Dominators...................
