Output Shaft Housing + JB Weld = ?

My brother's 2000 Ram 4x4 popped the rear U Joint on the rear driveshaft into 3 pieces the other day, and while it flopped around for the 100ft it took him to get into a parking lot, it cracked the output shaft housing.
The crack isn't all THAT bad, and I'm afraid it might be a dealer only part. A junkyard MIGHT have it, but I don't know if they'd want to just sell me the output shaft housing, it's just a round piece of metal (at least, I think it's metal, it's kind of flimsy) about 8" or so long.
Do you think JB Weld could hold it together?
I figure, once it's in place, it won't have to move unless it pops another u joint, in which case I'd probably have to replace it again anyway. I already replaced the U joint (it's nice having a friend with a shop press) and bought the rear seal already, I just realized today that the housing was cracked and junkyards are all closed till Monday (I probably couldn't go till next weekend anyway) and my brother is aching to have his truck back.
Any suggestions, let me know...

Why go through the trouble a second time or a third time...?
"Don't JB Weld it, replace it." Save all the headaches....

well, I think I can actually flip the housing upside down so the crack will be on the top side. Between that and the JB Weld, I don't think it will leak any more if the JB Weld will stick. I think I'm going to try it......
The housing would either be a dealer only part or I'd have to get it from a junkyard, and it would probably be pretty expensive. I don't think a junkyard would want to sell the housing without the transfer case.

turned out the piece was a LOT worse than I thought. It snapped 3 of the 4 ears clean off the housing, so it looks like I'm going to have to look for another one anyway
