I swear this thing is just like a woman sometimes. It randomly does something to piss me off and never does it again.

Today I hopped in it to drive to work. Put the key in, turned it and... nothing. Kept trying and it wouldn't start. Wouldn't even click the starter. So I took the bike to work instead.

While at work I was running through my head all the things that could be wrong. I was hoping dearly it was just the battery cause thats easy to change.

So, when I got home I grab my tools and voltmeter and go to work on the car. And guess what? That bitch cranked right up like a champ.

Last time it was the passenger door lock, then the driver window. Just quits working one day and fine the next... I think its mad at me but I dunno if I should buy it flowers or a case of oil.

Sorry man, it's the Pit talking.

Mine is doing stuff like that too. I would have to say they are making their final decent into piece of shitdom.

My old L-98 Formula did that. Turns out it was something inside where the key goes that had come lose. I had to replace the ignition switch and it was fixed. Started doing it here and there and would then work. Finally went totally out.

The Mullet Man speaks words of wisdom there. The first two things I'd check are ground points and the starter solenoid. You should be able to pick up a remote trigger for the starter from a parts store. They run about 15 bucks. They are a pistol grip with a long wire and two clips. They take the ignition switch out of the circuit by jumping the positive point on the solenoid to the negative. The connetion closes where you squeeze the trigger. They work great when you are trying to set timing or TDC.

Anyhoo, grab one of those and jump the solenoid. Give the trigger a squeeze a few times and see what happens. Keep the ignition off so it doesn't start. If the starter moves each and every time without hesistation, you most likely have a bad ignition switch or a bad ground or cable somewhere. If it doesn't move so well or clicks and hesistates or does nothing, it's the starter solenoid. You can replace that but I'm guess this is on the Camaro and if that's the case, it's probably cheaper and more cost effective to replace the whole starter assembly.

I'll give you $250 bucks for it.

Check the braided ground strap that runs from your engine to the firewall. That'll cause some weird snags if it's frayed up or broken.

Jack it up, take the tires off and throw the rest away

Any correlation with humidity? If so, ground points get even higher on the list. Check connections at battery of course, grounding at the body/frame, connections at the starter/solenoid and any relays you may have in the ignition circuit. Normally the solenoid sorta serves the purpose of a relay, but never hurts to ask the relay question. Many a car has been towed, just because the relay finally died after 15 to 20 years, faster in humid conditions. Ignition switch could be the culprit as noted, and wires could have been pulled or fatiqued.

I suppose I could check all that, naw fuck it! I'll wait till it leaves me stranded.

clean / replace your battery posts if you haven't already. Jeep did the exact same thing, that was the problem.
