Could an ABS speed sensor cause the speedometer to quit working?
Here's the scenario...........
My brother has a 2000 Dodge Ram 4x4. The speedometer quit working, and it's throwing a code P 0500, which means "haven't heard from the speed sensor lately" according to Allpar. The confusing thing is the ABS light came on too. The parts directory I found on the net says they're two different sensors.
Could an ABS speed sensor cause the speedometer to quit working, or is it the sensor on the trans?
I'm leaning toward the sensor on the trans........
All input appreciated

His wheel speed sensor in the rear end went out, exact thing happened with my Dodge. That sensor is for the ABS and for the speedometer also. Takes about 5 mins to change out, and runs about 50 bucks from the dealer.

What he said....
Its prolly a 3 channels ABS system, has a big reluctor ring on the diff carrier and a hal effect sensor on the housing. Before you buy anything though, check the wiring to make sure theres no cuts/grounds etc(you know the drill).
