looking to obtain an older mustang to use as a dual purpose on the road and at the drag strip. Can anyone offer any suggestions on what years I should be concentrating on in the older mustangs. Would like to put a bigger block in the mustang. New at this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Early/mid 70's model (Mach1 or something) should do the trick. Maybe someone else will chime in since I'm not a Mustang expert, but I have seen a lot of big block Mach1's over the years at the track.
