I have a 2000 Camaro SS with a ls1 350 and a 6 speed manual (i think a t-56 it is the origional trany). 65000 origional miles. All parts origional. There are no aftermarket parts on my car other than air filter and oil filter. I was attempting to pass a slow truck on a back road in germany. i was traveling at about 35 mph. i was in fourth gear at the time. i downshifted into third and stepped on the gas. i pressed it about half way to the floor. when i did this i imediatly heard a loud screatch. it sounds like two pieces of metal scraping against each other. i pressed the clutch to the floor and it stops. i can still press the clutch but it goes to the floor with slight pressure. i can shift the car into gear and ease the clutch out to move. i have to go down hill or up hill by easing the clutch out. if i press the gas even slightly while the car is in gear it will screatch. the engion remains normal. oil temp and alteinator. i need to know if this has happened to anyone else out there. i was told possibly the transmission, the clutch, the throw out bearing, or the splines on the back of the transmission that link with the axil. All gears still work. 1-6 and reverse. please help me. i want my car on the road again.
army aviation all the way. i was told to check my clutch. i was told that a spring on one of the plates may have broken and fallen inbetween the plates. there is enough pressure to allow the car to move but not when i press the gas. ideas???

Sounds like you need a clutch.

That's the first place I'd look.
How many times do you need to be told it's the clutch before you actually have the clutch looked at?

i am in the army, stationed germany. i have a hard time getting parts or qualified personal to look at it. the only option i have is to tear it apart and find out whats wrong. i have never taken a trany off. i dont know what to do. right now i want to look into it alot and find out whats going on. i want to know if this has happened to anyone else!
