i have a 1985 chevy c-10 carbureted,
after a flood whenever i started it would run rough then die.
i raised the idle.
now it idles too high and the idle adjust screws dont seem to help.
when i put it in gear its still too high and goes to 35 mph without me even touching the gas.

How is the choke system working?
When you raised the idle, which screw did you adjust? (curb idle or fast idle or air mixture screws?)
You also could have the egr valve stuck open which could be what the initial problem was.(metal diaphram on the passenger side of manifold beside carb)
I have alot of expeience with engines from this era, don't be afraid to ask, hope this helps.
