West Aussie Show Pics.

Here's a few pics I took over the weekend at our annual show.

This coupe won a wheelbarrow full of trophies, eight I think! It's glass, but has a lot of very clever tricks, a blown Hemi (that actually hides a couple of throttlebodies) and was home-built with a lot of help from his mates in his car club.

The coolest EK Holden in the country.

A real early Mustang, has a 260 Windsor in it. Old Italian bloke owns, swears he drives it all the time, but every time I see it, it looks like it's just been removed from its hermetically sealed container and put back on display.

A neat little home-built roadster. Engine is a Cleveland.

A more door that belongs to bloke that came up and said hello to me.

This is the engine that powered a hell of a lot of Aussie GMs. The mighty 308 or 5.0-litre in the new money.

I really liked this XR Falcon. Kinda reminded me a little of my car (only nicer... and a Ford). Pretty stock looking 289 in it, but just nothing out of place, even the wheels I can live with.

Another classic Holden, this time an EH from 1964.

Something you don't see every day. A '37 Chevy ute! Either needs some big-arse whitewalls or lose those flipper caps. I'm thinking steelies, caps and blackwalls, but who knows what it will end up wearing!

A bloke I know just finished building this '45 Jailbar. Turned out pretty neat and was a pretty good stocker when he got hold of it.

A good mate owns this '55 Chevy pick-up. Runs a 502 with twin LPG (propane) mixers. Very cool, very tough and smokes the shit out of those whitewalls!

Just a neat '56 Chevy more-door with a couple of odd looking people thrown in for good measure!

Wow, you definitely saw some great-looking cars there! Holden is GM's Australian name, right? That EK Holden looks a lot like a '56 Chevy to me...except for those round lights on the edge of the grill...

That XR Flacon looks pretty neat...reminds me a lot of an early Chevelle, from that angle.

The 'Mighty' 308? Are we thinking about the same engine?

Very cool Brootal! Very cool.

Whats that 56 got in it? Is that a 6-popper(cyl.)?

Posted by: Brootal

Mighty 308? Well that's what Holden lovers call it anyhow.

Fifty-six is running a small-block.

Brootal, is the 308 an strictly aussie engine?

Looks like ford with a distirbutor in the rear and the coolant hose on the wrong side!

I love the color of this one

Yeah, I believe so, but it was probably based on a US GM design. Not sure if it might have been Buick or Olds. They're a pretty stout engine and you can now get stroker kits that take them out to around 383 cubes. One guy runs one at the salt flats and has run over 200mph with it!!!
