No more music

That's right. There'll most likely be no more music in my ride for the rest of the year. I don't know how I'll manage to live with that. Guess I'll have to buy a boombox to put in the passenger seat. No, wait...I've already got one; cool!
Why? Why no more music?
Well, my Jeep developed some kind of a leak somewhere, and I noticed that my interconnects that were laying in the floorboard under my feet were also laying in water.
So, anyhoo, Wednesday night I took the driver's seat and the molding out and pulled up the carpet, rolled down the windows, and left it in the garage with a fan blowing in it. This of course necessitated that I take the amp under the driver's seat out. And the distro block that was mounted right beside it.
I just put my Jeep back together today, and with all the talk of selling it, I just decided to leave the amp out. I also pulled out the HU to take out the RCA's and REM wire. I also took out all the power wire all the way back to the fuse at the battery. The HU is still in the dash, and I can see what time it is (shoot, I can even change radio stations!), but I don't get any sound. I figured since it's just for a month, I'd rather listen to the roadnoise than worry with hooking the mids back up to the wiring harness (which I probably mutilated anyways).
So, I guess now I'll be bundling up extra tight this winter so I can ride down the road with my windows down so I can hear my exhaust.

Dude, fix the leak.
Also, if you want to keep moisture levels down, head over to an Army Surplus store and pick yourself up a couple of bags of renewable desicate packs. They are basically a specially formulated clay that you can bake in an over at a temperature for a short while to dry out again.
Granted, they won't help if the vehicle leaks, that's too much water. However, my Ranger had a moisture problem and it woul lead to a musty smell. Part of that was because of condensation. Since it had very little insulation and sound deadening, it would experience extreme temperature changes in the interior. I grabbed 3 bags and threw them under the seat. Every 3-4 months, depending on the season of the year, I'd pull the bags, bake them in the over for a while and throw them back in. The moisture problem wasn't so bad anymore and the musty smell went away.

I'm not positive where it's leaking, but we're working on it. We had the windshield replaced about a month or so ago, and he came out and resealed it Thursday. I'm hoping that was the source of the leak, but I don't know.
Just keeping my fingers crossed that I won't get any more water under the carpet.

Check the heater blend door. Sometimes seals around the heater box can go bad or come out of place and allow rain water to get in from the cowl vent.
If it has a sunroof, check that for sure. Door jamb seals too. Shifter boots can be a source or water too. Check that that isn't leaking or out of place.

Thanks. If I notice anymore water next time it rains, I'll be sure to check out those areas.

Check to see if the drain for the heat intake is not clogged, if it's clogged then the water rise over the dam, we fix alot of jeeps whith this problem.
