Do they work? Are they safe on the engine? If so what is better the chip or the programmers? Could any one give me the true answer, it would be greatly appreciated.

What engine are you looking to get one for?
I've heard the newer truck engines (V6 and V8) respond pretty well to the Superchips programmer. I think autoanything.com has it for $300. I'll probably get one for myself in the near future.
