I'm going to be helping the boss at work make a four banger '88 Mustang LX notchback into a 5.0. We'll be using a wrecked '88 GT donor car, one that already has a cam and a couple other mods. Just thought you guys would like to know about this one. I'll let you know when it starts - things are a bit busy at work right now. I'll probably be driving this one at local autocrosses.

So will you be upgrading to mass air and swapping the computer, etc. also?

Btw, if you're going through all that, have you considered swapping the rack from the GT to the coupe? It would prolly improve handling over stock even if you don't also swap suspension.

Get all the wiring and electronics from the GT. Even if parts are broken, you can get replacements for computers and stuff but most places want a core back. You'll save a ton of money if you have the core parts to trade in.

The fuel injection harnesses are valuable too and the injectors are just flat out expensive to use everything you can and replace only what you need to.

We're pretty much swapping everything over from the donor car, wiring and all. While we will temporarily run it on the stock computer, we've got an aftermarket ECU ready to go for it too. This is, after all, part of my job.
