Ford sales in April suck, just like Ford's marketing program

DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. (F.N: Quote, Profile , Research) said on Friday that U.S. auto industry sales to date in April were "terrible" as consumer confidence was hit by a slow housing market and rising gas prices.

"This month is terrible," Ford chief sales analyst George Pipas said in an interview. "We are not even close to where we expected to be in April."

Pipas said industry volume appeared to be down 10 percent to date before seasonal adjustment, but expected Ford's U.S. retail share to hold steady around 13 percent.

I hope they fired the marketing director that earned a nationwide boycott of Ford Motor Company, for catering to the cough, cough, pansy-ass market. You can't just alienate a large segment of your loyal base and expect to be able to give those milliion dollar bonuses to the limp wristed gucci loafer guys down the hall.

How's that? Ford, you frigging earned it, you dumb asses. Quit the social engineering, and get the hell back to automotive engineering. It's too bad you have to hear this from an internet forum.

Personally, I have to think twice about supporting a company with an openly gay agenda, or an internet forum with an openly gay agenda. Would I buy a Ford today? I'd have to think about it.

Here's why. For many many years I was a BIG FAN of a particular rock and roll singer. I thought that particular singer was the greatest. I had all of the albums, played the music all the time. It was great. Then one day I heard that singer had uttered a few words about the United States in Afghanistan, and from that day on (for years now) I haven't even put a finger print on ANY OF THOSE CD,s. I don't want to hear that sorry ass singing.

Same thing goes for Ford. Until they clean up their act, they're going to continue to get hammered. Even if one in twenty potential buyers thinks this way, they're fuc'd.

It disgusts me, because I have ALWAYS been a Ford guy. My Grandfather had a Ford dealership, and I can only imagine what he would say about this.

HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF ... a ...
Hey, it's Mr. P!
I recently bought a new Ford, but ...
I bought it for a few reasons.
A: My wife wanted it
B: It's number 1 in it's class because it's the best car in it's class.
C: OK, so there are ony 2 reasons!
Generally speaking, I don't like the path that Ford has chosen.
So ... Uh ... "P", where ya been?

Well its a long torturous story. I was going to pick up the wife (she just got out of prison) and my truck got hit by a diesel train, in the rain. The truck was tossed into some a55holes car, he slapped an insurance claim against me along with assault and battery, but theres good news in that story. If he makes it, he is probably gonna sue me, but personally, I don't think he's gonna make it. I know someone who works in the intensive care department, but hey, thats another story. They pulled the truck off the street with a back-hoe (are we still allowed to say "back hoe"?) and ran over a gas meter, set the whole neighborhood on fire. I left the scene of the accident, had dinner last night in a nice restaurant, used the wrong fork.........well, it's a long story.

What's all this attraction to the cough, cough, Ford power stroke? God only knows what the hell they're really referring to, ha ha (especially if it came from their frigging marketing department).

I've always been a Ford guy, but right now, there are some whining idiots getting paid WAY too much money at FoMoCo, and they're going to ride a great American company right into the dirt. They'll all get a golden parachute, and FoMoCo will end up being a wholy owned subsidiary of the ACLU.

Well, at least, now, we know your account hasn't been hacked!

Hey P, we now know you're still alive...

So there's a boycott ... Well, whatever. I think Ford needs to stop pandering... Sissies. They probably figure it's the best approach since so much of the world suports gay lifestyles now. I think the whole gay "way of life" is horrid and even wretched, but then, I'm not one of them. They're probably liking the idea of being catered to. I think we should ban it and ammend the Constitution ... just to piss 'em off! That's because I really don't give a damn how a gay person feels about my opinion of their life choices any more than they care about mine.

That said, once Ford sees that website, it will probably be removed or at least forced to change its setup... Ford is pretty hardcore against using it's emblems, symbols and trademarks without permission. So unless that's a bonafide Ford site, it won't last very long if they go about their usual path of destruction.

So every single truck company would rather do business with gays than real men. Guess we should just stick to buying used.

Well, then I guess this gives me one reason to be proud to own a Nissan.

This whole thread is assinine.

If anything, gay people should be insulted that they can be bantered to by simplistic demographical marketing campaigns.

I'm not going to reconsider who I buy a vehicle from. I'm not gay and I don't give a damn who is or who wants to sell something to gay people. I'm not going to apply my own moral philosophy to cold-hearted business decisions that just make sense. If there is a huge gay population in New York and I want to sell as many cars in New York as I can then I'm going to find a way to do it. If that means that the gay community is so full of mental midgets that they can't see that I'm patronizing them and thier "ideals" just to seperate them from thier cash then, being a cold-hearted business person bent on profiting, I'm going to exploit that weakness to it's fullest.

If you're going to assign the same idealogical assessment in the other direction and stop buying cars from a certain company then that doesn't really put you in a different boat than the people you have a problem with it. It just puts you at the other end of that same little boat.

All this because Ford advertised in a gay magazine for gay individuals with ads having gay overtones. Unless you're gay, why would you look at that ad or even care about that ad or even KNOW about that ad? Only heterosexuals consider certain vehicles "gay" like Subaru Outbacks and Mazda Miatas and Volkswagen Cabriolets. I can understand someone not voting for a politician over moral and idealogical standards but a corporation who's only purpose of existence is to make copious amounts of profits? C'mon, get real! There are much bigger issues with much more merit that need to be dealt with other than car companies wanting to sell cars to everyone, including homosexuals.

A car company shouldn't sell cars, because of someone's sexual preference....This is what is wrong with it....You shouldn't sell cars, because of a beautiful girl drooling all over the hood either..What those manufactures are doing is targeting a certain group and forgetting about another. They are pleasing one group, when they know another can't stand that lifestyle..Not a way to sell a family product period, let alone cars....You should sell cars designed for everybody or anybody and leave politics/sex/religion out of it...If you make a great product, that'll sell alone on it's own merits....

Agreed. What you just described is demographic profiling. But again, you are applying morals and scruples to a scrupuless business machine that answers to one thing and one thing alone, the almighty dollar...and the primary shareholders...but they answer to the alimighty dollar too. Boycott, protest and do what you want. It's unlikely that any company will fold to moral and religious beliefs over another's moral and religious beliefs. Politics, yes, because those beliefs and support can usually and sadly be bought.

That's not all the Ford's doing though John. If it was just ads, I wouldn't be upset. But Ford is also giving money to gay activist organizations trying to force gay marriage laws on the rest of us. So they're financially helping fringe groups seeking to pass legislation that roughly 80% of the population does not want! Hell, even here in the peoples' republik of commiefornia a ballot measure defining marriage as being between a man and a woman passed rather easily a few years ago. Ford's trying to change that and that is why I'm pissed.
