Jay's daddy buildup!

It's been a long process for me, but I feel like I am finally making some headway on my project and thought I'd share. I welded up some of the holes in the engine bay and painted it. I've never painted prior so it's definately not perfect but I dont think it turned out too bad considering.

I suppose this will work for a before pic

The area that is cut out on the passenger side was chopped up by a local shop so I decided to cut the area out and later I will add in panels once I have the turbo sitting back in there so I can make a template and will paint it to match.

Old K-member removed here

With the new UPR Chrome-moly K-member -crappy pics I know, it's a cheap camera! I couldn't bolt the A-arms in yet because UPR didn't send the "hardware kit" so I called them up, they sent it out yesterday and I just got it today. I'm going to get busy here in a few and slap them on.

Coilover kit just hanging there until I decide which brakes to go with, I'm thinking Areospace, but this guy I know keeps saying Strange! I only sprayed some Krylon on the inside of the inner strut towers, not like it'll get alot of attention lol.

UPRs 4 bolt CC plates.

Heres my Bennett shortblock and I took some pics of the heads but the camera sucked and I'm sure my photography skills had something to do with it to lol, and they turned out blurry so I didn't post them. They are Street heat Hi ports with a little work done to 'em.

I'm going to retain the A/C and power brakes for now but will be converting to a manual rack before I start setting the motor in.

Btw, I bought some Cobra bumper covers a while back and have painted the front bumper cover but still have to do the rear. I didn't intend to make a fobra, but I loved the look of the Cobra front cover and bought a front and rear so I've decided to go ahead and complete the look with some snake badges as well. Oh well to the Fobra haters out there. All I have to say, is that if it can't keep up with a stock cobra then I have bigger issues to worry about!

I still have a long way to go and I've talked with Trans. Physicians about building the AODE for me when the time comes. He seems pretty confident that he can build me one that will work!

Hope you guys like it so far!

Thanks
Terry

I hear some old guy named "Howard" still has your Daddy!

Anyway, looks real good! I may have to get your help one day with building me a car!

Posted by: Adrenalin

I ran into Mike Vann last night at Home Depot while I was looking for some grade 8 bolts and stuff! He says he has a 427 hes building up that he also got from Bennett. He said he's looking for make around 6 to the wheels when it's done.

His wife was there also and they said Howard had stopped by a week or two ago...... although they said something about he was looking for this faggot that wouldn't fix his sons roof and he was highly aggitated wanting to kick this faggots ass!

Btw where's Tang been? I was wanting to show him my slow progress!

He's too good for us anymore.

His brother hangs around alot though.

That paint work looks good to me. It's an engine bay. Unless it's a show car, it's not going to get a ton of attention either. I gotta ask about those pistons though. What's up with that pattern in the dish? I never really saw something quite like that before. I mean, I've seen flycut, dished pistons before but those grooves look odd. Like they are going to produce hotspots.

Posted by: Adrenalin

Thanks but those are not grooves. It's purely visual. The way the light is reflecting off of the piston. It feels perfectly smooth when you run your finger across it.

Looks real nice! Beware the fit of that K-member. It will probably work fine, but there was a time when adjustments were needed to make things fit once it was installed. They are nicer now, so you may have a perfect fit.

Really? I had no idea that you were roofing now!

How did the welds look on that k-member?
I looked one over at there booth at Fun Ford Weekend. The welds looked like so much chewed bubble gum.

Posted by: Adrenalin

They look nice. Of course I chose the chrome-moly kit, over the mild steel and the chrome-moly K members are tig welded. I don't claim to know a ton about welding but I've heard it can be hard to make tig welds look bad.

A few more pics

Still waiting on some more parts that should be here by the weekend but here are just a couple recent pics.

The strange brake setup for 94 - 04 retains the factory hubs and spindles so I had to clean up my stock stuffs!

These are my new front wheels. I gotta go pick up my tires tomorrow. The long studs should be in early next week so I have until then to get the brakes mounted on the car and I'll get more pics then.

Jay, thanks for all the help.......

Yup, Bogart Welded RTs and Thanks! Btw, I just got the fronts for now. When I start on the rear end, I will more than likely, narrow the rear a little so I will decide on the size/bs when the time comes.

You and your Rob Young, Wayne Bunch and Howard comments, I really think you are fantasizing about them too much!

I was able to get those parts today! I told them I called you and they immediately grabbed their butts and swore to get me the parts in less than an hour!!

Posted by: Adrenalin

Wow! since my last update this thread has moved down 3 whole spots!

Anywyay..

update:

I just got the rear brakes in! I have to take the plates over to the chassis shop tomorrow so William (Chassis guy) can start putting the rear together.

Posted by: Adrenalin

Here's the new rear rims. Just sitting there, waiting on the rearend that will probably have to be narrowed a little bit more after I get it back from getting built and narrowed the first time....

Posted by: LS1JAY

Nice looking wheels! You gonna take me for a ride in it when it's finished?

Posted by: Adrenalin

No, I won't take you for a ride by Saddle Creek man, quit askin!!

Thanks bro. I don't want to sound like I'm braggin... even tho I'm proud as hell of them, but pics don't do them justice! When I get the rearend back in and tires mounted and this thing is sitting down, you gotta come over and look at them.

Posted by: Adrenalin

I'm going to mini-tub the stang so I have started by removing a portion of the factory tubs.

I'll work on that more when I get the tires on the rims and see where everything is going to sit.

I got the rearend back today. I'm pretty pumped!!

It has:

-9" flanges
-chrome-moly 1350 pinion yoke
-TA girdle
-35 spline Mosers
-Moser spool
-3:55s
-custom bracing
-welded tubes
-narrowed 3.25" per side
-powder coated

Here are some pics, but excuse the garage, it is a total mess atm.. I cropped out a little.

Nice rear end... car is coming along nicely too!

Posted by: Adrenalin

Well ordered my lower control arms, upper control arms and anti-roll bar, but I still need those tires. At this point I'd take some worn out 325 50 15 M/T DRs just as long as they held air, so I could go ahead and order/fit the tubs check clearances etc. Other than the tires, I need to get some coil-overs with brackets. After that, I'll be working on the fuel system so since I'm working at the rearend, I went ahead and removed the stock gas tank and cut out the spare tire well since I will be running a fuel cell.

Here are some pics of the rearend in to get an idea of what I'm looking at but this is with the stock control arms. The pics suck, it was getting dark out and my camera is a cheap one. I tried to lighten it up but I'm not the best with photoshop.

Here is another crappy pic of the wheel to fender clearance. I still havent rolled the fender lips yet so I think I might be okay. If you look close you can see the driver side fender to wheel clearance is closer than the passenger side fender to wheel clearance. I have bolts pushed in without the nuts so we'll see what the clearance is once I get the new control arms in.

Here is a pic of the spare tire well removed.

Here is a list of what he did:

- Fabricated and installed the rear portion of the cage in chrom-moly
- Custom fit the Double UPR anti-roll bar (I have to get better pics of it)
- Fitted full mini-tubs and notched the frame rail
- Mounted the upper bar and lower brackets for the rear coilovers
- Awesome tin work
- Lots of work that I'm not even sure how to label

Here are the pics:

The cage (rear portion, he will finish the rest later after I get the seats and clear out some room under the dash)
