One good thing seems to have come out of it.

Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is a U.S. based firm. Chrysler is U.S. owned again if this deal gets penned.

Uhhh...from BusinessWeek.com

Quote:
Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is a private investment firm specializing in investments in undervalued companies. The firm seeks to invest in aerospace and defense, automotive and manufacturing, business services, consumer and retail, distribution and retail, financial services, food service, hospitality and leisure, logistics, printing and packaging, real estate, technology, telecommunication and media, and transportation. Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is headquartered in New York City with additional offices in Chicago, Illinois; Los Angeles, California; Atlanta, Georgia; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Frankfurt, Germany; Tokyo, Japan; Osaka, Japan; and Taipei, Taiwan.

From Cerberus's website:

Quote:
Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is one of the world's leading private investment firms. Cerberus specializes in providing both financial resources and operational expertise to help transform undervalued companies into industry leaders for long-term success and value creation.

Cerberus is headquartered in New York City with affiliate and/or advisory offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Baarn, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Osaka and Taipei.

Cerberus holds controlling or significant minority interests in companies around the world. In aggregate, these companies currently generate over $60 billion in annual revenues.

Apparently, that's what this company does. It buys businesses that are under-valued like Chrysler. What they do with them, I'm not sure but they do seem to have a record of making them profitable because they reported over 60 billion in profits from thier holdings alone last year. That's holdings, not the actual profit from each company. So that 60bn+ is Cerberus' return on investment alone and not profit from goods or services rendered. The other companies each have thier own reportings to consider also. Those reportings are not necessarily included in Cerberus' financial reportings.

Yeah really I've made more than that ripping people off by over charging them on Shelbys and lying to them on purpose about car ratings.
