That Lou guy on Musclecar is building a Mustang fastback, claims he's going to road race it.

So he put the rear end in on the episode aired today. It's got a spool?!?!?! In a car that's going to be making lots and LOTS of high speed turns?

Is he the idiot for doing this? Or am I the idiot for thinking he's an idiot?

It makes both rear wheels rotate at the same speed all the time.

Great idea if you're going to drag race. Not too bright if you want to turn.

I was told last week that the car got a quick change gearset which is installed in a matter of about a minute, to the rear of the rest of the differential. I didn't hear anything of a spool. Not having watched, I don't know what he's using, but if there's a real spool in there, he's bound to regret that for road racing.

Surely he's either changed plans, or has some amount of trickery in mind. He's a pretty knowledgeable guy from what I've seen and I don't think he'd make such an 'error' without having a plan for it.

Yeah Muscle Car is probably the best show on the power block now days. I think old Purple Monkey guy is right, I seem to remember something about a quick change gear set myself.

It is a quick change, with a spool.

The quick change with either a clutch, cone, or other type of posi would be an awesome idea.

Well, I don't get to watch much anymore. I'm just too busy!

However, I did see a few minutes, yesterday. It was the part in which he was telling us, he screwed up with the front end height and thanked writers for pointing it out and he said he is still learning about this road racing stuff.
SO, I conclude he screwed up and installed a spool in what is probably a Winters Quick Change rear.
If this is the case, you should send him an email and tell him the front isn't the only thing he screwed up.
