I can't get the damned thing tuned right, anyone have experince with these? It is on a stock small block chevy minus the eledbrock performer intake. What should I run the timing at on the thing too.
Thanks

Are you still using the Quadrjet intake? If so youll need to use the Edelbrock part # 2696 Square to Spread bore adapter. You will need this part if your not using a Square bore intake.
The 1405 is an exclent carburator, Ive used plenty of them, and have one on my 71 C/10 sitting on a holley street dominator intake.
I run base timing at 10 degrees BTDC.

What's the problem? Idle or off-idle or mid or high rpm? I don't think you would have bolted a square-bore carb onto a spread bore manifold would you?

It is on an Eldelbrock performer. I figured it out the fuel/air screw were in to far and it was idling like crap.

yep, but it runs AWESOME now. I started the body work just some basic wet sanding and one dent in the rear quater panel. I am gonna have Macco paint it. I know I know, but it truck was free, so any paint job is going to be nice. I am getting it painted either green (which it is now) or some type of cranberry. I am getting the white top the painted the same as the rest. It needs it and I have seen them painted the same as the body and they look nice. My wife bought me the soft top for it. So I guess you can tell I really like it. The camaro has not been out since I got it registered.

You're supposed to run the mixture screws all the way in, then adjust one for maximum RPM, reset the idle, then adjust the other screw for max RPM. Then it's perfect.

treat it to a blow from a large hammer, then get out yr U.S. dollars and send them to me, and i'll send ya a HOLLEY!
Seriously though. Get yrself a vacuum guage to set yr idle screws (leanest setting with most HG is what you want)
As far as timing what motor is it? I like to play with the timing curve with different spring tensions. Get yrself some timing tape and a non-dial back. Get the quickest curve w/o detonation into second gear and yr set.
