How hard is it to switch v6 to 5.7 v8 in 91 firebird

My buddy has an 88 trans am. The oil pump is out of it and is dosent want to start now. He told me that he would sell me the car for 500 bucks. I have a 91 Firebird with a v6 in it now and i was wondering how hard it is to switch motors. Oh and what tranny is in thoes 88 trans ams 5.7 litre is it a 700 r4? Any answers would be helpful. Thanks for your time.

I've never done it, but it seems to be a pretty common swap. Here is some info I was able to find:

Think about the work involved, then ask yourself if it would be easier to just find the car you want. I am assuming the Firebird is just a fun car you have around and not something you rely on daily?
