2002 Trans am Tires?

My back right tire blew out on me the other day so I ordered 2 new back tires. I have P245/50/R16 96V on there right now but after I ordered them I saw that instead of saying R16 it said V16. Is that bad and what does it mean?

The" V" is a speed rating on the tire, like "Z"....."V" usually stands for an average around 130mph and over rated..Depends on the tire manufacture...Some Tire manufacture might give their V rated tire a 140 mph over...
