Made it to Kil-Kare again and got 5 decent passes in. Air was good but there was little traction as always with the present tires. I'm leaving the line around 1300 RPM to minimize tire spin and had another new best.

1.641 60' with tire spin!
7.35 1/8 ET
94.54 1/8 MPH
11.50 1/4 ET
118.74 1/4 MPH

Real happy with the new converter and transmission.
Will post my lastest slip tomorrow.

Wow 2 awesome weeks in a row at the track. Woot woot.

That's nice... 2 weeks out, 2 good results.

I am surprised about the 60' time though. I think 1.6 is excellent for an F-body with a factory rear and wouldn't expect a better 60' even with brand new slicks. Maybe I've got it all wrong there, but I remember guys complaining that they were having trouble getting a 1.9 or better. Your setup clearly squashed THAT problem. It's the YANK!

Congrats on the new best time again!

Congrats on the new best time again!

My SS was getting low 1.8XX's spinning like a bit@# with only a little Yank 2600 stall! I ran a 12.73@110 with just headers in 60* air with a low 1.9XX on the stock converter and the car was almost dead hooking with Nittos. Then I added the baby Yank 2600 stall (I got it cheap and figured what the heck!) and then went back in 75* air and couldn't hook for crap and went 12.71@109 with a low 1.8XX. I know it had mid 1.7XX's in it with as much spin as I was getting. I knew guys getting 1.5XX's with mid 11 second cars, so I think he should be in the 1.5XX's.

I think it's also about the launch process. I got 1.8's and ran 11.2's, so clearly, if the power is there, ET is capable of being good. That car was capable of 1.4's, but also able to run mid 10's on motor. I don't think it would see a 1.3 though, N/A.

And I could see a 1.5 on a solid hook if there's any spin atoll. He's only .04 from a 1.5 as is. But the 4th gen was never known for really good 60's. For nearly any car, 1.6 isn't bad for 11's and 1.5 is generally real good for 11's unless the rear is low. I expect 1.5's or .4's for 10 second passes(or quicker to a point). All said, I wouldn't expect him to be getting 1.5's normally with the minimal work he's got into that car. That's part of why it looks so impressive. Not much work, good ET's.

That's good stuff in my book!
I'm thinkin' I've been outta the game too long because that trap speed is high enough that I was lookin' (in your sig) for a power adder, or a fairly substantial weight reduction, but saw neither. What am I missing?
I'd worry about the 7.5 breaking, but, otherwise, everything seems good.

Hey guys. I'm worried about the 7.5 too. I'm on my 2nd diff now. Car is stock weight.
UMI tq arm and LCA relo brackets along with Motive gears. I am using a drag bag at 20psi

I am putting alot of heat to the Nittos. Leaving the line at 1500 rpm or higher right now is pointless. So far leaving at 1300 which is about 250 over idle has given me the lowest 60' and I'm still coming off the line sideways.

The YANK PT's are very impressive.

Yesterday evening I'm cruisin and working on the tunes street manners and I go WOT for the first time (on the street) from 45 mph and she pinned me to the head rest til I let off. That was a rush.

I'm thinking maybe 1.5 60's is possible once I get the UMI SFC's welded in and I'm going to box the LCA's for now.

I'll keep you guys in the loop.

Sounds good...

Get a larger, stronger rear under that car or you'll pop it again. It's pricey, but with that, you could probably do even better on the track and more importantly, have fewer concerns.

Your Right G A, I have been looking at options and pricing. I just missed a local used GM 12 bolt, spool, axles for 1500. Damn it. Oh well, I'll keep looking and saving.

Posted by: Grape Ape

That was a great price... Bummer

With those times and mph will be needing a 12 bolt. Also... have you thought about looking in to some M/T drag radials?

Posted by: An11SecRanger

I suppose it's just me but, I'd have passed on a 12 bolt anyway. I haven't seen a 12 bolt without tapered axles and I've seen many, broken, tapered axles.
However, for all I know, someone's developed a good 12 setup and I just missed it. And $1500 for a bolt in (ASSuming it was a "bolt in") seems like a good deal, so I'd prolly, at least, consider it.
I like the 8.5" 10 bolt, the 8.8" Sterling (Ford), the 9" Ford and the Dana 60. I'd be looking for one of those. But, like I said, that's just me.

MT's oh yeah. Both times I was ready to buy some they were on back order so I indended up with Nittos again.

I run my 17" WS-6 wheels with Nittos all the way around right now. I'm getting a set of 16" Trans Am soon to mount a set of ET's to keep the same look for now.

That 12 was a bolt in. The Axles were Strange that's all I remember about them.
