We sold our house. This past Monday was the closing. Here's our new place... finally some acreage. House is coming soon!

My new neighbors are Cows! I like them better than some people that I know.

Wow, that's awesome. I'd love to live on a fairly large tract of land one day.

Congrats, man!

Just look outside your bedroom window... I'm camping out there until the house is built!

Congrats! I knew you were doing this, but I'm glad to see it was completed.

Lemme know if you need a septic system... I'll drive Rangerboy down there and let him help... For a fee, of course.

Well, the good news is that I don't have a lot invested in it yet. My Dad gave me the land. I'll explain more later... I will say this. There's 5 acres for sale out there for $250.000 so it usually goes for $50,000 per acre in that area. There's not a lot of land like that left here where I live. You need to go further North to find land here in Florida (as you already know).

HOLY CRAP!!! $50k an acre!?!?!?!?!?!?! Dude... I'm sticking to my neck of the woods. I know of land that is for sale up here for about that price ($250k) but it's usually between 40 to 80 acres...

Anyway, Congrats Jay! Good luck on the house!

Congrats BOY.

Atleast it is flat and all useable. Nice to see property that is GREEN. Around here ( the desert ) it is all DEAD and brown.

Hey I have over 200 sets of house plans, want any?

What type of house are you going to build? Uh oh, you live in the HURRICANE area. Better build it out of BRICKS and BELOW ground.

I'm happy for ya!

The OLE MAN

ps, many marriages end up in divorce because of building a house. Let her have her way and don't get mad when she changes the window location three times and ends up back at the original spot.

The cost of land is nuts in FL... Here's a place I just recently looked at because of a city discussing plans to purchase the property... And some residents being rather unhappy about that discussion.

http://www.345browardave.com/

Asking price is $484,500

From what I can tell, this is less than 2acres of land, with 280' of lake frontage. The home has ASBESTOS siding! It's not exactly new... 3br and 1ba... Old inside and out... If ya can't tell that by the exterior view, just look at the appliances or furniture inside.

Not the most expensive property on the planet by any means, but I can go less than 30miles away and buy large tracts for under $3K per acre.

Congratulations!

There are lots near us that were going for $750,000 for a small lot on Lk Hollingsworth. There are some right up the road on Lk Juliana going for $350,000 for a small lot.

Thanks! We actually have a plan already and the architect should be finished with it next week. I DO appreciate the offer though!

So far we are both designing it and so far so good. I guess some of the things she wants... doesn't matter to me and some of the things I want... don't matter to her, so it's working out really good.

Yep, stuff around here is pretty expensive. There still is some cheap land around here, but it's usually in the swamp or just plain WAY out in the middle of nowhere!

50,000 an acre Wow cheap, Try 450,000 for the 1/2 acre down the street from me.
Looks good Jay!
