Amish Country in PA

Ok, so the folks and I are sitting in a hotel in Bridgewater, NJ at the moment. We're up here for a wedding, first time we've been this far north, so we're going to make a week of it, taking in some of the sights and sounds.

Anyways, yesterday we went back down into Pennsylvania. We took 78 to 220 and then just traveled Route 340 through the town of Intercourse, then swung back to 220.

At least, I think that's what we did. I know we traveled down Route 340, and that's where I took all these pictures.

All but about three or four of the pictures were taken from the Suburban, and then only about 5 of those were taken with it stopped, so already the odds are against getting any good pictures. Add on top of that my 4+ year old Powershot A80 seems to be giving up the ghost, and almost all the pictures are crappy as far as picture quality is concerned.

However, some of them turned out decent, and a few capture the area fairly well. I uploaded the best 34 of the 200 I took to a facebook album, and you can view it HERE.

Lemme know what you think!

The shots you added aren't so bad... But Idonno if that's all Amish country... The one with the horses, I'd say sure... Not being Amish, I don't know all that much about 'em... But they seem to not care for electricity too much and I'm told they don't use skidsteers... It sure is pretty, but I'd just call most of it "farm country" in that area.

Did you pass any horse and buggies on the roads you were driving? If so, maybe look up the law about that whole thing. I read it early this yr in some "outdated laws" article. It said(in PA) that you are supposed to pull over and shut off the engine so as not to spook the horse... And if that wasn't enough, you were to DISMANTLE the vehicle and HIDE the parts!!!
