Stripping has begun. Still waiting on the fabrication guys at work to finish the jig. They are making me a jig on casters the car can set on so I can wheel it around the garage with the suspension off. Sure is a lot of dirt hidden in there...

Got it up in the air, wheels off and the drivers door gutted. I got the glass, handles, speakers, wiring and window runs out. I've got new moldings and window runs to go in after paint.

Damn dude you are serious, It will be well worth it though. Keep me posted as you know I am a Shelby Dodge nut.

Coming along pretty good now. Better than just takin off the valve covers eh?

Yes. Unfortunately no progress to be made this weekend. We're heading over to Sanibel Island for a break. On a plus note. We just got in some black powdercoat at work. I'll have to treat the rear axle, front crossmember and control arms to some cosmetic improvements.
The guy I'm getting the motor from e-mailed me earlier and told me he's crating it now. I should see that in the next week or so. Stripping the car ins't as fun as I thought it would be. I never paid attention to how all the ground effects and bumper inserts were installed on this thing before. I'm probably going to end up investing another $250 in new fasteners alone... Jeez...

Cool, the Shelby turbo cars are a piece of history, but often don't get treated like they are. It's good to see someone restoring one now.

I'd never even heard of a csxt till now
Shows how much I know.

Got the front off today. I'll be gutting the drivers door and side molding tonight and tomorrow. My engine hoist should be in this week and expecting the motor to be in on Tuesday. Seems to be moving right along.

Looking good!

I don't know if old Humpty is going back together again. On a good note. I have the motor and hoist. I'll be yanking the old one out this weekend finally. Other parts are in too. Head studs, gaskets, starter shield, stainless steel brake lines, KYB upper strut mounts and spring seats, 1-1/4" front sway bar and 3" exhaust... Woohoo. This fucker is gonna scream. (I'm hoping anyway)

Head studs are dirty, run the boost up on that fucker and show the ford guys what boost really is.

I still don't have that motor out yet. Damn I'm lazy. Sorta got sidetracked with the early arrival of the baby too. I did get some more parts for it. I went ahead and ordered those wheels from Centerline. I still need a head and found a guy in Washington that sells new castings with a mild CNC port job, mild bowl work and stock back-cut valves for about $500... Think I'm gonna have to jump on that too. I think I have everything really. Just have to get the motor out and get it to the body shop. All the interior is out, trim is off, glass is out, doors are gutted and everything. Really can't wait to get finished. I'll have to do something RWD next time around. I'm thinking a Fiat Spyder 2000 with a small block...
Here are the wheels I ended up ordering.

I like those wheels. How reliable are those turbo mopars for daily drivers?
Posted by: rodslinger
For daily drivers I'd say they are pretty reliable. This one made it 150,000 miles with the wastegate line disconnected and a Zener diode on the MAP sensor to fool the computer. No telling how lean it had been running all these years but it held up pretty good. It will be tuned right this time around.
As far as the car goes today... it's gutted. No moldings, interior, trim, headliner or anything. It's all up to the body shop now. All that junk in the car is the body side moldings and bumper covers that need to be painted.

I like those rims they will look sweet on the car, Reliability and durability is not an issue with these, When I had shelby Lancer #24 I ran 14 psi for over 180,000 miles it finally blew a head gasket. The Lancer ES I have now is a daily driver that runs 14psi of boost it runs 14.40 at 98.02 mph with an auto and crappy tires.

Wheels came in today. I'm still waiting on the body shop to tell me they have an opening. While I was goofing off I went ahead and threw on the new brake lines too. I purchased the wheels in a 16x7". I'll run a 225-45R16 or 225-50R16 whichever fits better. I'm sure it will look better with tires and when the car is back together. I gotta paint those calipers too. Anyone have good suggestions for painting calipers and the paint actually sticking?

...double posted..

Still waiting on the body shop to tell me they have an opening to store it inside. There's no glass and I didn't remove the body harness so I can't get the inside too wet. The only interior parts to be painted is the trunk and the door jams. The rest of the interior is clean.
The poor gutted interior. That's all the body moldings, bumper covers and the wing to be painted.
Here's the engine compartment. Dirty as HELL. Amazing what a few oil leaks will do over a couple of years. I removed the entire engine harness, relays and everything. The shifter linkage and misc items will be covered and allowed to hang during painting so they stay clean and out of the way.
Here's the old motor and related junk. The new secret weapon is on the stand in the background covered in a bag. Really looking forward to those 20+PSI, 60mph burnouts...

Got paint? Should be home in a couple more days...
