hi all
I competed in a "different" event the other week. It was called a "khanacross" and it's a hybrid of your (SCCA Solo?) autocross and a rallysprint. You drive solo and the course was set through a bunch of twist, mixed surface roads... tarmac, gravel, dirt, even mud.
There was one straight-idh section where the Datsun hit about 7000RPM in 3rd so about 80MPH on dirt... and we weren't allowed to use rally tyres! The khanacross regulations stipulate "commercially avalable passenger car tyres"... believe me, 200hp through a locked diff on dirt is quite a handfull when you're on near-bald road tyres
I had a few spins and took out a few marker cones (at 5 seconds penalty each!) but still jagged 2nd in class.
There were a few accidents on the day... some guy in a Lancer Evo III speared off into the trees, doing more damage than my whole car is worth. Other cars found the trees contained hidden car magnets too but managed to keep going.
It was a hoot and I look forward to doing another one.
Now I'm psyching up for next weekend, the 9th, and the final round of the short course rally series... and I'm already nervous.

That would be so much fun to do. I am so jealous.

I think I may try a solo event next spring!

just do it guys... it's doesn't have to be expensive and it's loads of fun. Youve got nothing to prove and you can take it easy on the car and have a fun time!
