Reprogramming?

With the cost of most bolt on HP parts for LS-1's being relatively high, at what point should I purchase the Hypertech III for performance gains.
I have a K&N filter, Smooth Lid, Borla Cat back and a MAC Y-pipe is on the way.
I want to buy a Hammer Cam over the winter. Will this cam require reprogramming in addition to the HP-III?
Thanks for all input.

I don't place much faith in off the shelf chips. If it wasn't made for a combination practically identical to yours, it'll probably be the wrong chip anyway. I would rather find some way of getting it reprogrammed specifically for your mods, once you have something like a cam or other things besides the basic bolt ons. I'm no LS1 guru, so some of the people here who are may have some better advice as to whether the HP-III offers any measurable gains and what mods it will work with.

I only use HPP3 to re-calibrate my speedo for the 3.23s (had 2.73s stock) and to raise shift points/firmness. I don't use the hypertech programming at all. I've heard of people actually losing hp with the power tuning installed. Have you checked out LS1edit? It can do alot more than the HPP3.

LS1edit?
Where can I research this?
How do I find someone with the power to custom tune my application. I live in S. Ohio. Is there anyone locally that can do this?

LS1edit. WOW! You can do alot of things with this from what I read. But to afford this you'd have to do alot of your buddies cars and charge them alittle $$$. to pay for it's self. I've got to find someone locally that can do this and knows what their doin.

How much is LS1edit going for now? Last I heard it was like $500 or so I think? The hypertech would cost you $250-300 if memory serves.. So its only a couple hundred more, and I bet it would be well worth it.

$500. ??
Maybe I didn't read enough of the web site I thought it was around $2500.
Better get my reading glasses out and try again.

OK EvilLS1 was correct about the price of LS1edit being around $550. now. I am unsure about how they can create a dongle that will respond with the mods that you may have made.
Have they done that much research with the various applications
of an LS1 powered vehicle. I am curious.
I want to get more HP out of my engine, drive it on the street, do some weekend racing from time to time, yet still pass E-check.
I have alot of bolt on parts picked out however the cam seems to be the most difficult one to choose.

Bop, LS1 edit does not look at your car and somehow tune it for you. You have the ability to change many parameters but you have to tune it yourself and you have to figure out what to change and how much to change it. The old 'chips' were a kind of generic performance upgrade. This is a tuning tool where you must do your own tuning.

ls1 edit is an overpriced version of www.tunercat.com software. from what i know about tunercat using and working with there product regularly its a great product however the ls1 editing abitlity is not there yet.
all of these tools both of them however are designed to allow you to edit things like fuel maps spark curves injector size engine displacemnet etc etc etc. its not a simple plusg and play the end user has to get into how the engine works and do the tunning as nessacary. if youd like some consueling on what tunnign is how it works and what to do with all this massive power you will gian then please feel free to email me.
word has it tunercat will release there version of an ls1 ecm editor sometime in early 03. this is much cheaper then ls1 edit
the tunercat software is $69.99 and the ls1 TDF would most likely be about $20-30 not including the interface. however these are price for obd1 cars so i dont know how that is going to affect obd2 ?? you may wish to email
www.tunercat.com there email is TC@TUNERCAT.com
and ask some questions and let them know what you have. im not a big fan the makers of lsiedit lt1 edit or any other products these folks seel due to the fact that they look you into per vehicle lisenscing where as tunercat is vehicle freidnly always has been always will be.

diablo is nothig compared to lsi edit of or tunercat. not even close. however diablo does make some nice stuff for fords.

I don't know funstick, I have seen guys gain over 20 rwhp using the preditor! it's much, much more than the HPP3! LS1 edit is not for everyone IMO, it's rather complicated when campared with the Preditor, plus you don't need a lap top.
