Somewhere around 135-145mph, depending on the driver, if it's a 5 speed. The automatic would likely only run about 125-130mph because you'd have to keep it (for the most part) in drive, as O.D. would be a burning disaster if you keep it locked in by using less throttle. The 99-up would likely be faster because they have a better automatic.

My 01 GT toped out right before 140mph, thats where it was governed.

Most of the people I know with 96 -98 SN95's top out at 135, b\c that seems to be where they are governed.

I have an auto 98 GT, and have had it up to 136 or so, and it was still pulling fine, I have done this many times and it will cruise at 130 mph with out any trouble. I am sure I can get 140 (govener) out of it pretty easy though, just never went for it.

Couldn't tell you about the top end on a '97 GT...However...My old '98 GT auto., (May she rest in peace...) got to about 136-137 on a back road at night with five people in her (Yes, there were three unfortunate souls stuffed in the back seat)...She seemed to still be pulling before I decided to let off...If I remember correctly, she started to whistle at about 120...I think it was the air around the side mirrors...I remember it concerning me at first, but I eventually learned to love it (Read: After doing it so much, I got used to it)...
