Especially with all new Autometer gauges, this'd be a great "mod". An extra spot for a transmission fluid temperature gauge would be nice too for those of us with automatics...

That looks like it would be pretty easy to make, and for about the same cost if you've got a friend who knows how to use AutoCad or really any decent CAD program that can save DXF files. Draw up some sheet metal plans, and take them to the nearest laser job shop and ask for a quote.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking - "Where can I find a laser job shop in my town?" There's probably one closer than you expect, as job shops can be set up just about anywhere and might not advertise to the general public. You could see if there's a copy of the Thomas Register in your local library, then look under Cutting Services. Or if you're feeling lazy, I could probably find one for you - I work for a machine tool company, and I'm sure I can find one of our customers who could use a little more business.

All the guys over there go crazy for the metal dash.

Yeah I love it. I just wish it were as easy to design a dash for these as it is for small aircraft or those little ponies.

What does the dart dash look like?

On my '66, I'd have to get a dash formed on a sheet metal brake as it's not completel flat but doesn't have any compound curves. BTW, if you're willing to give up some of the detail and don't plan on making a large buy, you could cut it out with a scroll saw and a bench grinder. Having someone make it with a laser cutter would be the way I'd go about making them if I wanted to build a dozen or so, though.

Hopefully once I finish muh edukashun I will be good enough to draw up stuff like that. It would be cool if I could trade my work for old engine blocks and stuff.

Same with the '70 here. I think it's only the one angle in it so maybe it wouldn't be vary hard to make. Major benefit is that you can pretty much design everything you want from the ground up. Only real concern I see would be the indicator light housings (need something to hold LEDs) and space behind the plate (thinging depth of Autometer gauges).
