Exhaust temperature question

How close should the exhaust temperature be between cylinders?
#1-3-5-7 are about 475-490 deg
2-4-6 are about 435-445
#8 was running about 515
Is that fairly normal, or could #8 be running a bit lean?

Could be lean, could be a bad exhaust valve. You clean yr injectors lately?

Temps seem kind of low. How did you measure them? 2-4-6 might be rich, too.

He's runnin headers ain't he?

Ya headers, I measured about 2-3" from the head with a digital IR sensor. No the injectors haven't been cleaned, Thats one of them things I've been meaning to do.
I measured the temp after about a 5 min drive and the car had been at idle for about 5 minutes when I took the temps.
I've got a loud ticking coming from the motor, I'm pretty sure its not an exhaust leak, maybe a loud injector or a bad lifter? I was hoping the exhaust temps might give me a clue.

It is possible for 2-4-6 to be rich too, since the o2 sensor is on the other header. The computer has know way of knowing if that side is rich/lean.

A bad/fouled plug or bad wire can give out a lower temp reading for obvious reasons. if it's a sticky lifter just run some ATF thru the motor it usually un sticks them.

Thanks STEVE i'll do that, its due for an oil change anyway.
