As in 440sixpack?
Posted by: Grape Ape
In a nutshell.... MOPAR engineers took the 440 cid V8 and swapped the single Carter four barrel carb with three Holley two-barrel carbs on an Edelbrock Hi-Riser manifold, creating the Dodge 440 Six Pack (Plymouth called it the 440+6). Only the center carb was used for normal driving, to open all six, you just needed to floor it. Valve springs, a hotter cam, connecting rods, and other improvements helped boost output to 390 bhp.
So there ya have it... 3 Holley 2- barrel carbs on the 440 engine = 440 SIX PACK
EDIT: And they bragged forever more...

Any other car came with the 6pack setup..?

They appeared on most of the B-bodies (Charger, Coronet, Road Runner, Satelite, and a few others), and I think the 440 Six Pack could also be ordered in the Dodge Challenger (it would be known as the Six Barrel for the E-body Barracuda). There was also a 340 Six Pack that appeared in the Challenger T/A. Six Packs didn't come from the factory in A-bodies, although some dealers installed them anyway.
While the 440 and 340 were the only motors to come with a Six Pack from the factory, the parts are availible to equip most of the other Chrysler V8 engines of the '60s with this option. There's even a kit for three carbs on a slant six, although those behave very differently from a V8 Six Pack.

You can get a 3 deuce manifold for a SBC from Edelbrock

Six Pack is Dodge terminology for their triple deuce setup , 69-71 for 440's, 70 only for 340's and only in Challenger T/A's. 6-Barrel or 6-BBL for Plymouth 440's 69-71, 340's again only 70 and again only in the AAR Barracuda.

I think Pontiac called that the Tri-Power? Or was that Ford's name for it?
Posted by: Grape Ape
Chevy called it Tri-power on the 427 Corvette, eh? "427 Tri-Power" ...Well Idonno about all that, but Ford used it from 1961-1963(mid-year) on 390's and 406's until the 2X4 setup came along. Ford also sold the 3 X 2 over the counter till 1967. I think it was only fitted to the FE's though. I think Holley makes one for the 429 too. Does anyone else know? Eh, whatever...
Some company called one a "3-DEUCE" as well.
Pontiac used the Tripower from 57-66(except Corvette) when they banned it... More governmental attrition efforts, I'd bet. They had a hand in all the good things leaving automobiles over the years...

Six pack, tri-power, three duces, all the same. Everyone had a setup, even the old 430 Lincoln motor of 1958. Ford small blocks came with em, and of course, the big FE 390, 406 and 427 motors did too.
