Went to the track

I went to the local 1/8 on Friday with some friends and ran my car with a best of 8.904 @ 78.952mph with a 2.0 60ft. and a .552 rt. I was within a tenth of my friend's best run with a '98 Z28 (317rwhp). This was all on my almost completely stock 440 (no headers, carter 750carb, no aftermarket intake, stock internals) with 3.91 sure-grip gears. I spun too much off the line with the BFG radial T/A's, I think it's time for new axles and slicks. Along with all the other easy boltons.

Nice run. Thats probably about a 13.8-13.9 in the 1/4.

Good run! keep us updated man!

Not bad at all. I agree, that's high 13s territory. Not bad for a car made completely from 1/4" steel plate, eh? Awesome ride, do you have any pictures? That 2.0 is a decent 60' as well, especially since you say you spun. Just some practice and you'll be in mid 8s no prob.

Here are a few pics of the primered wonder:
Notice the sticker:
My car and a friend's '98 Z28 1LE

Against the camaro above, I was within a tenth of his best time. I would always tear him up off the line, but mid-track he'd start reeling me in and we'd be even at the 1/8 mark. He'd whoop me bad in a 1/4 though. He has a slip for 13.1 around somewhere.

Sweet car man, very nice.
Love the rear sticker too, oh the parody of the picture.
Nice times too.
If your runnng stock rubber, do some air pressure release to get a better take off. Maybe some traction bars would help too.
Not sure if your trying to keep it stock but youve got a very capable car.
Keep us posted on the golden oldie.

Hell no I'm not trying to keep it stock! I just don't have the necessary funds...
Once I have enough money to throw around I'll be doing the basic bolt-ons (headers, performer rpm intake, carb). I wish I had enough for some indy or even edelbrock heads. I've got to make my friend w/ the z28 feel bad about spending $15k and getting beat by an old rusty primered "pos"

This pace was kinda dead for awhile(kinda still is), so I haven't been looking here. Nice looking car. Gotta love the Z being ahead of it while we're reading The heartbeat stops too! That adds good humor.
Not just to disagree with others(late anyway), but I think with a best 60' of 2.0 at that mph, you'd have seen a possible 13.95 though I'd think 14.1's. With practice, you'll see better 60's though and that would warrant 13.7's or better.
@65's remark... Underrated indeed.

you should get some fiberglass body panels and try to lighten that beast up.

Blah, keep it solid. That way if you lose you can still crush him into a pulp.
