I was thinking of swapping my rear springs out and putting these in. they have a 1000lb capacity. yes /no

No. I wouldn't use those in a Mustang. They have a tendency to break/pop. I'd say you'll have much better results with a set of upper and lower control arms. Especially if you also add an anti-roll bar.

You can't use those as a replacement for your springs. They are designed to go inside your coil springs for more payload or preload. I have used those for years in the right rear of chevelles and elcaminos to preload the right rear for straighter launch at the track. Also used them in my elcamino when I used to tow a trailer with it.

Will they lift the rear of the car?

They aren't designed to lift it really. The idea is to hold it up or keep the springs from collapsing and promote traction when you launch. You wouldn't use that type of thing(the bags) to raise it though. Most times I've seen them on Mustangs, there's only been one, on the right side.

I want to lift the rear of the car is there a way to do it with out to much work?

Only with air shocks (a not so good idea) or finding special springs. Of course, the stock springs might simply be worn out and replacing them with stock ones may be an idea...

Any particular reason other than looks that you want it lifted? Mustang guru William Mathis recommends using air bags in the stock springs to keep the torque from lifting the right wheel, but it seems Mustangs don't get much traction from that stance. That look made sense when Super Stock leaf springs were the hot ticket, but it doesn't have much of a performance advantage on Fox bodies.

Just for the looks factor. The tires I have are 10.5 wide the rub on the car body when I enter parking lots.

I had 28X10.5's on mine (my 91LX) and they rubbed too. But with a new set of original equipment springs, that's not a problem anymore. Those bags are used by several racers, but they probably won't last long on a street driver. They won't lift it though. You'd need air shocks for that, but :tfg: The other fairly simple fix would be to add a spring lifter of sorts. I can't remember what they're called right now, but they're fairly common, small, and sold in almost any parts store. Oh, and roll the "fender"...Actually the steel on the edge of the wheel wells. You might be able to use an old ball bat and wedge it between the tire and the metal, then (with help) slowly roll the car while applying pressure. It's not the easiest trick in the world, but it works.

get a new pair of springs, and get new Poly spring isolator pads. Energy Suspension used to sell them, up to 1/2" thicker (and harder durometer) than originals.
