I just bought my first new car ever. It is a 2002 cavalier ls. It is nothing spectacular as in what type of car it is but It is the nicest cavalier money can buy!
I have never had a car woth waxing before. What is the best wax to buy? Looking at wax in the parts store is like going down the shampoo isle at wal-mart! I know the most expensive is not always the best but, I would like to know. Thanks guys!! If any one is intrested(yea right) I will get a pic or two up in a few days.

Zaino is bad news for body work. they can't paint over it so if you need to fix the paint, they have to strip the entire panel.
what i use is Mother's 3 step process. you can use just teh California Gold car wash and the Caranuba Wax but it really makes it shine with the pre-wax cleaner and the sealer/glazing compound. its fairly cheap too. the whole 3 step process and soap will cost less than 40 dollars and lasts for 2 or 3 washings for teh 3 step parts and the car wash lasts for like 15-20 washings. and teh 3 step process only has to be done once a year. waxing at the usual 6 month intervals is recommended. also, none of teh Mother's products will strip paint or damage clearcoats of bond with the paint.
Meguiar's has the same kind of process but they are typically a few dollars more per bottle than Mother's and thier results are marginally better.

I quit waxing my car 4 years ago when I realized I was just rubbing off the paint.

I opted to Visit the local Ziebart and had them apply the Diamond Gloss paint sealant. Yeah its a little pricy but with a black car I think it is worth it. Now all I do is wash, towel dry, with COTTON towels. I will usaully use a few sprays of the Meguires Wax as you Dry. The Meguires really does not stick it does help with the water spots as you work your way around the vehicle. I am very happy with the results, I have pics, but can not figure how to post them. Good lock and keep the rides shiny..... :usa:

Cswrench, I use the Meguiars exclusively and love the results.
First, I use the Kwik Detailer for the in between care of the paint and also use the California duster to keep the dust at bay from parking at work. Btw, this duster is the best investment Ive ever purchased for the car. It cleans the dust off without ever damaging or scratching the paint.
Second, I use the Meguiars Kwik Wax for the in between waxing. This stuff is easy to apply and can do the car in just minutes.
I rarely wash the car with water and just keep it covered with a car cover and dont go in the rain.
Lastly, for the stubborn stains, scratches and overall abused paint, the Meguiars number 4, number 7 and number 26 is the best three step you can use.
Here is an example of what it can do to really faded paint as depicted on my 86 z24 Im restoring.

My 1997 Z24 had some key marks and bad scratches and the 4,7, and 26 series products took them right out and the paint looks better than new.
Hope this helps.

I agree with Misnblu..I have had great results with the Meguires products and they are priced reasonably...
