Nice car...
Anyway,in regard to your question..I'd probly fix it now...It would really suck if it left you stranded somewhere....Just my opinion though ...good luck..

Oh, and are you gonna tune'r till you ruin'er? Just wonderin...Look into some decent heads(stock ones you have are no good for flow) and use good internals(in case you go the nitrous route )...........C-YA...

Don't bother what what 28 just recommended.. If POWER was your plan, you'd just buy a Ford! J/K

Anyway, I'd rebuild it now. If ya go looking to make it faster, it's gonna cost ya. Sure, the heads could use help, but if you replace them with good(better) ones, you'll almost need to replace the intake as well, or at least extrude hone it. Then you'll want stronger pistons, rods, rings... It all adds up rathewr quickly. Of course, you could get a stroker kit, but a 355 is a good engine in my opinion.

Ticking = possible collapsed lifter = ehhhhh.

Valve seals/ guides = gotta yank the heads.

Low oil pressure = Sounds like a rebuild to me. UNLESS, you attach a pressure gauge to an oil passage and get a more accurate reading. (gauge or sending unit could be fucked )

If you're stuck with a rebuild, yank that 350 and turn it into a 383 stroker to toss in there. Also, beef up the 700 when it's out too. But if it isn't in yer budget, stick to a rebuild of what you already have.
