I remember reading somewhere (maybe on this board)about taking off and cleaning a MAF sensor. I have an '85 Celebrity Eurosport with a code 34 and I was wondering what to spray in there to clean it? -Want to try the cheap way first! If cleaning it doesn't help, THEN I'll replace it! Thanks...

Any cleaner good enough for the throttle body should do. But you'll want to remove the metering element before you spray anything in it.

Also make damn sure that you have all the cleaner dried off before first use.

Some of those mid 80's GM V6 with the MAF had a lot of driveability issues. So much so that they released an updated PROM that essentially bypassed MAF readings and relied more on the MAP sensor. Check the ECM part number and see if the dealer has an updated PROM. They are pretty cheap and makes a huge difference.

try using CRC QD contact cleaner. chances with the maf problem is FP related. the o2 is reading rich all the time or its reading lean so its programmed to trhow a maf code the o2 sensor is out of range constaly but switches normally.
