My cousin has a neon that shredded a timing belt. Now it runs on 3 cylinders and the no. 1 cylinder has no compression or very low. SHe doesn't know much about cars so what I heard from her she heard from the mechanic. Is the neon motor an interference motor (bent valve) What could have possibly happened and is it worth fixing?? I haven't gotten a chance to tear into it yet, and just seeing what I'm gettin into.

What happend was a pisont hit the valve. When the belt broke the valve train stoped moving but the rotating assembly didnt, so the piston that was down when the valve was open came back up but the valve didnt close.
You have two choices, Either get your head fixed or get another one. You can get a reworked head for pretty cheep so thats the direction I would go.
